Bacon: It's the new 'black' for gourmands

Everything is better with bacon, in fact, I’m thinking about adapting a cake recipe … but that’s better left as a secret right now.

I was purusing Foodzie and these sounded too yummy to keep to myself:

    Bacon Jam?

So naughty, yet so incredibly good

Bacon and chocolate. Blue Cheese Chocolate Truffles.

Don’t these sound like the answer to a naughty dream?

Both are available, as artisan goodies, from Foodzie.

These chocolate truffles are just crazy. The perfect marriage of smoked blue cheese and chocolate. We know, it doesn’t sound good, but it is! Using the Rogue Creamery’s smoked blue cheese, organic milk chocolate and roasted almonds has turned out to be a masterpiece! Think chocolate cheesecake with a slightly smoked almond crust and you are on the right track.

This is it! The perfect bacon bar. You’ve heard about it elsewhere but now is the time to see what’s what. Thick slab bacon is cooked crisp with generous slatherings of real maple syrup and chopped into an organic milk chocolate bar with a sprinkling of yakima nation smoked sea salt. It’s so bad yet so good.

OMG! Single Malt Scotch Candy Bar goes beyond expectations.

Like I said in my post on Foodzie the other day, there were all these little artisan food producers and I had to find out what some of them were all about. So, I ordered the Single Malt Scotch Candy Bar from the BonBonBar.

This is sooo beyond just good. This takes chocolate and caramel to a whole new level of sensual experience. I couldn’t wait to open one, and slice off just a bit.

The sheer power of perfectly balanced milk chocolate, melting temptingly around your mouth is the first part but then comes the unmistakable aroma of fine whiskey, blending with deep, rich caramel flavor comes next, finally set off by the tang of a few flakes of sea salt.

This is like the first time you really discovered what a long, slow, lingering, grown up kiss was about.

If you are a chocolate afficianado, and want an ultimate experience, this is it.

I’m waiting to see what the other Foodzie items are like.

    Yum.

Foodzie: Making finding unique locally grown foods easy

It’s that time of year for us to find that perfectly unique gift idea for friends, co-workers and family. And why not try your local area and small producers from around the country.

Foodzie makes this so incredibly easy, by providing interactive maps for local producers and their products that you probably didn’t know were even there.

I love fresh chestnuts and never knew there was a producer in Winters, California … which is on my way to the San Francisco Bay Area.

You’ll find every type of good food related idea and gift imaginable, and by the way, perhaps a good reason to get out for a weekend drive with friends or family to explore some of these areas. There are some absolutely amazing foodie ideas on this site, and from mom and pop enterprises. Hmmmm, I’m thinking back to that year I was making and selling cases of my jam…

Check this out, a single malt scotch chocolate caramel bar with Maldon sea salt flakes (OMG!), from BonBon Bar in Berkeley, California!

Or what about a perfect start to that boulliabase or gumbo:
