Whoops: fringe right kills wrong people

The Southern Poverty Law Center has been warning us. “We figured for a long time that we were going to get violence out of this movement” said research director Heidi Beirich.

Sure enough. The folks from an anti-illegal immigration group down in Arizona decided to play dress up, as Border Patrol agents. A man and a nine year old girl were shot dead.

The bigger question: Why is the United States government and legitimate law enforcement allowing these types of hate groups to keep on operating until somebody innocent gets killed?

The only thing these people are ‘defending’ is their own delusional paranoia, and should be stopped.

Hooray for the “guvmint cain’t do anything right” crowd?

Shawna Ford was the ‘high hodad’ of the Minutemen for American Defense. Now, they’re more than happy to disavow any connection with her. Ahhh, a hero of the cause one minuteman, and a prison mug shot the next. I wonder why they didn’t mention her guilty plea for stealing chocolate milk ( I’m serious, really ) from a convenience store in 2007, when she was running for Everett city council.

“The only reason I settled is because I’m shooting a documentary for my country,” said Forde, who plans to work on the film on illegal immigration at the U.S.-Mexico border this fall. “I don’t care (about the charges). I am way too busy nationally to worry about this.” said Ford.

Whoa. This woman is delusional.

Just last year the winger blogosphere was all a-twitter with the ‘attack’ on Ms. Ford in her home, in Everett, Washington, where according to them, she was beaten, stabbed and raped by ‘spanish speaking’ males. You would think this would hit the media as really big news, but not. Perhaps because it didn’t happen.

According to several websites from 2008 that I’ve looked at (same story, different websites ):

“Shawna has been investigating drug cartel operations from Nogales to Sells. She had broken in pretty deep as far as locations and the ins and out of operations. She was working on discovering the connections here in WA state along with human trafficking of young girls.”

“Huh”? I thought that was the job of law enforcement, rather than private citizens. I mean, how do you hold down a job and family, and go deep cover into drug cartels during your free time?

Here’s the problem: the police can’t quite verify that anything happened to Ms. Ford. According to local news reports, it was all her word, her pictures of self and little other substantiating evidence. They’re still investigating.

Just to give you an idea of the type of ‘thinking’ that pervades this type of movement, this is a follow-up post related to the current events:

Liberals will no doubt use this to distract from their fellow traveler, Jew hating, socialist brother murdering a guard at the Holocaust Memorial.

Again, “huh”? These people don’t know whether they’re punched or bored.

As I said earlier the Minuteman American Defense website is doing their level nutty best to distance itself from Ford:

Unfortunately, this isn’t the only fringe nut group with a similar sounding name. The Minuteman Civil Defense Corps is out doing the dirty, hard job of rounding up illegal aliens on their own…now, there’s a scary idea.

If you can’t speak good English, look like a Mexican, happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, even with legal status you’d be in a world of worry when apprehended by these nutty vigilantes.
