Lunacy just in time for elections: Richard Ziser
Thursday, October 22, 2009 at 11:22 You knew it had to happen. A fringe zealot had to jump in somewhere between now and the coming election cycle to distract eyes and ears from the important issues facing Nevadans.
In case you missed it, Richard Ziser ( or as the Gleaner refers to him: ‘The Official State Homophobe’. LOL) is now proposing that we confer “Personhood” on anything with human DNA.
Huh?
If this isn’t an indication of a failing educational system, particularly in basic sciences, I don’t know what is. This clown needs the Biology 101 for Dummies book right now. Despite graduating from CalPoly (what were they thinking?) in mechanical engineering, he went on to obtain a Masters in Christian Apologetics.
Huh?
Ziser, a perennial political wannabe, is Chairman of Nevada Concerned Citizens which stands as the only guardian between us and that slippery slope into immoral behavior, smut, filth, gays, gay marriage and of course, death squads for the infirm and elderly.

“NCC works to strengthen the family, foster free enterprise, support a strong national defense, reinforce the moral fiber of the community, and preserve freedom. “
NCC claims to be non-partisan. Yup, kinda like The American Family Association or any of the many other right wing groups with ‘America’ or ‘freedom’ prominently displayed in the name. (feel free to wave or wrap yourself in the flag now)
Ziser is a carpetbagger of the first order, who came to Nevada in 2000, having been underappreciated in California. Like so many others, he probably saw the red tinged, wild west slant of Nevada politics as fertile ground to sow his own brand of insanity without too much interference.
The NCC claims to thoroughly research important topics - like who you and I choose to sleep with - and then present them to the public in a timely fashion.
I don’t know how to properly express my gratitude here, in print, for a family audience.
His current dip into the pool of battyness, seeks to give the status of “Personhood” to any organism that possesses human DNA.
Given the current state of science and techonology, that could be the banana on your cereal this morning or the burger you ate last night. Aaaackkkk!
Would that include the dead? How about oocytes? Would we need to have funeral services after each menstrual period? What about a death certificate?
Don’t get me started on how this would tie up the courts for the next century.
You can see where this leads …. either to me pulling my hair out strand by strand in despair, or to one more unnecessary and stupid distraction during some of the toughest times in recent memory.
The Republican party, in Nevada and nationwide, needs to get off its ass and marginalize lunatics like Ziser in order to be taken seriously. But then, they have there own problems at home.
