    Greetings from Florida

Ah, the big day is over. Everybody was utterly exhausted this morning. Several had to leave on the ‘oh-dark-hundred’ flight, others hung around until this afternoon, one party didn’t make their Miami flight. There was a Minnesota Vikings game, you see…

It’s not an easy task herding a group this large, in many ways. Logistics, of course, is the number one issue - from cars to hotel rooms to meeting up at what restaurant, at what time. You’ve got kids and grownups going in different directions. Grandkids that want to go have their own fun.

Then there are the little screwups, squabbles, opinions and dustups that are a part of any large or small. In one this big, it can be magnified. It’s a test of everybody’s patience and sense of humor. You’re looking at a group of strong willed and opinionated people. There are no wimps in this crowd. In fact, I think there must be an unwritten rule that wimpy, blah, boring people simply are not allowed to be one of us.

You also can’t belong to this group if you can’t or won’t dance. They’re all - without exception - the biggest bunch of dancing, partying fools on the planet. We closed down the country club, wore out the DJ and each left the place an exhausted, sweaty, happy mess.

There are - aside from today’s groom - other recent additions, with another wedding planned for May in Cancun (too cool !). We’re a marrying bunch, too. And, we pick some awesome mates… especially on the second and third try for a few of us. We’re determined to get it right!

We all figure that no matter what happens, if we can laugh about it at the end, so what?

This is my family. The only one I’ve got anymore, and that’s okay because I dearly love them all … each and everyone with the flaws, warts, quirks, opinions, difference of opinions, and all.
