Join Mark Udall to protect credit card customers

I just got this, from Mark Udall of Colorado,  in my email today:

Our country is facing the worst economy since the Great Depression. The last thing our families need is credit card companies unfairly jacking up interest rates and fees — even for millions playing by the rules.

Unfortunately, Republicans are blocking a vote to immediately freeze interest rates on existing credit card balances until the reforms from the Credit CARD Act take effect in February 2010. Republicans are using a procedural roadblock to protect credit card companies at the expense of American families.

    That’s unacceptable.

Click here to send a message to the Senate that it’s time to protect consumers, not credit card companies.

For too long, credit card companies have used unfair and abusive practices on American consumers. That’s why we passed the Credit CARD Act earlier this year.

But since we passed this bill, the credit card companies have been gaming the system — cynically raising fees and rates in the months before the bill goes into effect.

That’s why I’ve co-sponsored a bill to immediately freeze interest rates on existing balances. Sadly, the Republicans are trying to protect the credit card companies’ abusive practices by using procedural roadblocks to kill this bill.

    Enough is enough.

Click here to send a message to the Senate that it’s time to protect consumers, not credit card companies.

This is a classic story of David vs. Goliath. It’s time to take on Goliath and stop credit card companies from gaming the system at the expense of American consumers.

    Sincerely,

    Mark Udall
    U.S. Senator
