Great Basin Bicycles: great help when you need it

I was riding around doing some errands today, and my bike lock decided to die. I’ve been riding more than 40 years and have yet to see a bike lock go bad. The housing around the combo part was seriously cracked … I must of dropped it, but I thought “heck, that won’t have anything to do with its functionality.”

    Famous last words.

After my husband came to rescue me with the Subaru, we were just a minute from Great Basin Bicycles in south Reno, on Virginia Street. so it seemed like the best place to go for a bolt or cable cutter.

I’ve been in there several times for small items and found the staff to be really helpful and pleasant. Today was no different. The guy came out to the back of the Subaru and cut through the cable with some awesome ‘nippers’. He wasn’t sure it would work, but it did. Before he realized that I had the bike with me, he even offered me a pair of cutters to take home, on just the promise that I’d bring ‘em back.

So obviously, I bought my replacement lock from him, and will continue to take my bicycle trade there, and suggest that you do as well.

They can be a little hard to spot, in their new location at 8048 South Virginia, but well worth it. Their phone number: 825.8258.
