Softly ends a Nevada day ...
Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at 21:50 After work this evening, I wanted to take another chance that the three wild horse bands would come down to drink over on the east side of the Truckee Meadows, beyond the deadend of South Meadows Parkway. So, with camera and long lens, I rode my bike over. They were there, but more scattered and not as close as the night before … when I didn’t have my camera (Murphy’s Law in action).
I enjoy this time of day, just after the sun lowers past the Sierra peaks to the west …. and the light becomes very soft and expressive, laying ever so tentatively - like a kiss - across the Virginia Range. The geese are heading back to Virginia Lake for the night, a few heron are still out, and the flocks of redwing blackbirds are gathering in the rushes … creating a sweet sounding finale to daytime.
It’s a grand place to walk and reflect on the day.
