Time to start dealing in facts, not Republican fiction
Monday, September 28, 2009 at 20:56 The Republican National Committee is at it again, spreading disinformation, misinformation, demogoguery and outright lies about Obama, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and anything Democratic as it pertains to health insurance reform.
I’m sick of it. LOL.
It would be difficult to know just where to begin to deconstruct this pile of steaming manure.
Apparently, the biggest, scariest boogeyman for Republicans is the word: Taxes. Boo!
As far as taxes being imposed on individuals, go to page nine, ten and eleven of the comparison chart for a real idea of what taxes/penalties will be imposed. What you might notice is that the largely industry crafted Baucus bill from the Senate Finance Committe imposes the most taxes. There’s the private sector working for America! Snort!
A “doctor’s tax”? Well, I couldn’t find anything labeled Doctor Tax in any of the three bills. My guess is that in order to scare the shit out of the unsuspecting, they took something inocuous and buried in the language and ‘sexed it up’ with a horrible name. Let me point out here that if the RNC was serious about this debate they’d simply be using the real language.
A “Tax” on medical supplies? Show me where the wheelchair for grandma will be taxed, because I just can’t find it.
And with these “new taxes” the RNC tells you that you’re health insurance costs will “skyrocket”. Isn’t that what’s happening been happening over the last decade?
Instead, perhaps you should watch the entire interview with George Stephanopolus and Barack Obama and find out what the RNC left out and how much that little nasty clip was edited to give you the exact wrong information:
See, the RNC has proved how you can lie and deceive by what you don’t say.
Get a clue: The amount that a person who decides not to play when they’ve been given every reasonable opportunity to purchase affordable health insurance, or to get it with subsidies, isn’t a tax when they can’t simply avoid it by being on the team.
Here’s a simple, reliable way to follow the whole reform debate from the Kaiser Family Foundation. It’s a simple side by side comparison chart of the three main bills that have been introduced… from the Senate Finance Committee ( that’s the Trick or Treat bill that Max Baucus left on America’s doorstep), then the Senate HELP Committee bill, and the House Tri-Committee bill.
This chart will be updated as things change. Bookmark it or save the location to your desktop for future reference.
Let’s move this debate forward by using facts … laced with the actual language from the proposed legislation instead of made up inflammatory and disingenuous blather from the right.
