Nearly $1 million to make Nevada highways safer
Sunday, September 20, 2009 at 21:58 Nevada Senators Harry Reid and John Ensign announced more than $900,000 in funds from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to implement and enforce specific programs that will prevent and deter impaired driving on Nevada’s highways.
“No one should have to be injured or worse because of a drunk driver,” Reid said. “133 people were killed in Nevada as a result of alcohol related deaths in 2007, and another 130 in 2008. This money saves lives and makes our highways safer.”
Not only do Nevada drivers benefit from this money, but so do those who enforce the laws that make our highways safer. Needless highway fatalities and accidents due to drunk driving cost us all in more ways then we like to think.
If you don’t think our Senators are doing anything for Nevada, think again.
