Friday, November 21, 2008 at 19:12 A man is just another passenger on a bus until he comes face to face with a thief. And a choice. Directed by Steph Green, stars Cassandra Braden, Kelly McCracken, Marija Thomas, Roddy Jessup.
Sometimes, it’s easy to know what the right thing is. Other times, not so much. If you witnessed a crime like the hero in Transit, what would you do?
This is a wonderful opportunity to bring discussion of a serious topic to the fore with your co-workers, neighbors and family - and especially your teens and young adults.
Possible questions for discussion:
Is this a realistic scenario?
Did the good guy forfeit his opportunity by not acting sooner?
What if the thief had a weapon? Would that make a difference?
Why wouldn’t the man simply report it to 911?
Where does responsibility begin and end for the bystander?
What part does cultural context play here?
What possible outcomes could have resulted and why?
Is there a difference between being the hero and doing the right thing?
What part should community play - say, the others on the bus?
