Of course Nevadans pray. We have casinos!

I was noodling around through the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life website. It’s fascinating and the interactive graphs are truly excellent.

In so far as state rankings, Nevada ranks like this on Importance of Religion (number 34), Worship Attendance (number 40) and Certainty in Belief in God (number 40). Nevadans rank near the bottom. However, when it comes to praying, Nevada ranks right up there. We’re number 25. - just under the national average.

    Duh.

We’re not sure there’s a god, and we’re too busy trying to keep the house from foreclosure to go to church, so of course religion isn’t all that important, but when it comes to prayin’ to beat the odds, we’re not taking any damn chances!

As for me, if Vermont had skiing as good as Nevada, I’d so be secularly there.

Friday Fish Wrap: Happy 2010 !

I’m happy to have ended the decade with laughter. We just went to see ‘It’s Complicated’ this afternoon. I highly recommend it, especially for those of us who have been on DivorceLand ride. Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin all demonstrate why they are three of the decades favorite celebrities - and give us a tour de force smack down on the complexities and laughs to be derived from splitting up.

    Once you stop crying.

The Pew Research Center for People and the Press has offered some interesting poll results about how we view this first decade of the millenium. As a whole, we think it sucked.

    No! Do you think?

Young, old, Democrat, Republican - ‘sucked’ pretty much defined our take on most of the last ten years. And why not, after all. It started out badly with a stolen election and eight years of a simple bastard in the White House, being led by an evil prick.

    Whoops. Was that too forceful?
