Myth: Everyone's breast cancer is the same.
Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at 21:48 Oh, so not true, Kemo Sabe. Even within the same patient the cancer can vary. I was diagnosed as a Triple Negative ( ha, and they didn’t even know me!) meaning ER/PR/HER2 negative which indicates a certain course of treatment. The post surgical pathology showed some cells that were definitely ER/PR positive … which put me on an immediate course of Tamoxifen.
Remember that cancer, even within the same individual, is a diverse population - kind of like the world we live in. Comparing breast cancers is rather like comparing apples and oranges.
