Garden chores for right now
Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at 21:57 Yes, I know it’s still winter, but we’ve had a long warmish dry spell here in Reno, Nevada - the high desert known as the Great Basin.

It’s a good time to turn on the outside water for the day and give your plants a drink - they’re parched!
Go buy a bag of cow manure and spread it over your rhubarb patch.
Turn your mulch pile.
Think about adding a bag of compost or other amendments to your vegetable garden patches.
Pick up bags of spent coffee grounds at Starbucks locations and add those to your garden.
Consider getting some cold season crops ready to go like planting rhubarb, garlic, onions, kale and such.
You can also think about buying some bulbs for planting.
Clean your bird feeders and put up a couple new nesting boxes.
