Money Myths Busted: Taking it further

Money myths abound throughout our society and are fed a rich diet by politicians and wannabes … in addition to our parents, friends and relatives who mean well, but aren’t always right. As I was watching this segment - while on the treadmill this morning, gotta keep those holiday calories in check - it occurred to me that what this woman was saying about individual finances applied just as well to the finances of a nation.

Watch and listen. Pay particular attention to what she says about debt - “debt isn’t bad or good. It’s just a tool.” Think of this in regard to those in Washington D. C., and those who’d like to be there, who keep chanting the mantra of deficit spending is just plain bad.

The point I want to make here, is that slogans conveying simplistic thinking are what you can get in our society as a replacement for thoughtful analysis derived from facts - particularly if you watch nothing more than Fox News. In fact, that was recently proven by a scholarly study of Fox viewers compared to people who got their information from a wider variety of sources.

    Challenge your assumptions.
